Let’s Spread It Out - Imran Abbas

While we think that we have attained great success in life, we forget that it is also our moral responsibility to guard our culture. Majority of the people are merely absorbed in their own professional growth and tend to neglect the most essential fact that with professional growth one requires personal growth 'deen' in equal measure as well. Once again my brother Imran has highlighted a vital point that many others 'may think about often', but do not care to voice the same with such balance and clarity. Leaving you with his rumination.

"Cannot understand the point of writing the verses of the Holy Quran on the front page of this “daily” each day. These newspapers are slid under the door, thrown on the floor, later used for wrapping stuff, and eventually thrown away in the garbage. Do we actually need this religious enlightenment through newspapers, or, do we not have our Quran Pak with us? Wouldn’t people have banned a nation and its products if something like this were to happen in an Non-Islamic state for disrespecting the Quran and Allah's name?

I request the concerned authorities to look into this matter and stop this disrespect of our Holy Quran as soon as possible."

Sincerely
- Imran Abbas

Not So United States of America

Sharing something authored by a dear friend and writer Matt Straight that expresses my mind rather tersely as well. Only difference is that if I had articulated the same, which I wanted to do several times, people would have given it a different tint and made a brutal jumble of it.

“Sorry if I offend any of my American friends but I feel compelled to have a rant, which I rarely do.

Yes it’s true that guns don’t kill people by themselves, it’s idiots with guns that kill people. But unfortunately for America, they seem to have a very high gun to idiot ratio.

When the “Right to bear arms” was written into the constitution in 1791, it was also legal to take opium. Now that’s over two hundred years ago. Things have changed a fair bit since then and the world is a different place.

Fortunately, in 1914, the use of Opium for recreational use was made illegal. It had become apparent that the ease of availability and abuse of use was not good for society and overdoses causing death were quite common. But then its not the drugs that kill people, it’s the people that use drugs that kill people right? Just because two hundred years ago “It was your right” doesn’t mean it is “right” for today.

Surely if you can’t reduce the number of idiots in America, reducing the amount of guns and ease of availability would help reduce overall incidences of mass shootings? Wake up and stop this madness.

Where did all this hate come from? Stop spending so much time and resources on stopping terrorism and start focusing on stopping your own people killing each other.”

Zayn has managed to bridge the gap between the colours that had existed only in dreams and weren't part of the waking spectrum until now in his album Mind Of Mine.

Home Is Where The Heart Is - A Note To India And Pakistan This Eid

A note to India and Pakistan this Eid

I can fly to London as frequently as I wish, and yet it pains me that I cannot step into my own brothers’ homes in Lahore – homes where a measure of my heart resides.

The statesmen can preserve the border dispute and celebrate blood with blood to satisfy their insignificant vendettas as long as their agendas exist, BUT we, the people, do not want anything to do with this, so this Eid please present us this Eidee India and Pakistan. Return us our lives. Allow us the comfort to breathe the same air our brothers’ breathe for nothing can be dimmer than that a nation has the right to butcher me simply because my brothers’ live on the other side of a line and that our people have had a quarrel, even though I have not quarrelled with him.

So this Eid please give us this Eidee India and Pakistan, will you? Give us our freedom to BE. Give us the canvas to express our true LOVE, something we both feel EVENLY for each other.

- Farahdeen

This dedicated to my younger brother Ali Mohammed Zafar and my Kidd Danyal Zafar, who are my life.

To my alter ego, my brother Imran Abbas Naqvi, he and I know how the loss of loved ones has welded us, and what we have gone through due to that loss together, yet apart.

Also, to the one man Fawad Afzal Khan who has unfastened the locks of such floodgates between our nations that one can truly see how love defeats any semblance of hate.

And of course my Zain Zafar. Can I ever forget you? Never!

When I expire...

But there is that within me which shall tire. Torture and time, and breathe when I expire...

Strange Power

What a strange power there is in clothing.

DEATH MAY BE AGEING

Death may be ageing
but he still has clout

But death disarms you
with his limpid light

And he’s so crafty
that you don’t know at all

Where he awaits you
to seduce your will
and to strip you naked
as you dress to kill

But death permits you
to arrange your hours

While he sucks the honey
from your lovely flowers

Good Brands and Great Style

My Mantra

Good brands provide you great style by virtue of their cuts and quality, but even then it is more about style than the brands.
